As the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) draws near us, there is excitement in the air. However, with concerns related to COVID-19 cases as well as the bio-bubbles, there are players who are being affected but the popular belief remains that the tournament will happen without further hiccups after the successful staging of the competition in 2020. Amid all this, is it being reported that another English star is set to miss the initial games of IPL 2021.

However, this time it is not a present cricketer but former England captain Kevin Pietersen who is included in the list of commentators for the tournament. With the T20 competition now over two days away, KP hasn't yet landed in India and keeping in mind the mandatory quarantine, he is sure to miss the opening games.

Missing SA so much: KP

Ahead of the tournament, South Africa born England star shared that he is missing his home in South Africa very much. Although one would expect him to be already in India by this time, he isn't in the country either. It remains to be seen when he arrives in India and can join the broadcast to give his insights on air.

During IPL 2020, KP had flown home early to reach South Africa. This time around, he might be present for the second half of the competition. IPL 2021 is set to commence on April 9 with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.
