The incident took place during the 19th match of the PSL between the Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The incident took place during the seventh over of the match when du Plessis’ head collided with Hasnain’s knee. Faf ran forward to stop the ball and at the same time, Mohammad Hasnain also came running in from the long-off region. Both the Quetta Gladiators’ players came steaming in at full stretch and Faf’s head collided with Hasnain’s knees and the former even laid on the ground for a long time.

However, the Proteas cricketer was later even seen in the dugout with the injury on his neck while his wife Imari Visser seemed to be extremely concerned for her husband's safety. Faf du Plessis' wife has come forward with an emotional post for the injured cricketer and has also prayed for his well-being. Imari Visser shared an image of Faf du Plessis who seemed to be in excruciating pain as he was seen holding his forehead and there was a bruise below his right ear.

Imari Visser took to Instagram and wrote in the story, “This is killing me right now. Surely he should be checked in hospital?!??”
