Germany’s star footballer Thomas Mueller has extended his contract until 2024 and vowed to commit his future to Bayern Munich until the age of 34, the Bundesliga champions announced on Tuesday. The club’s notification further informed that Mueller is a product of Bayern’s youth system and has been with the club since he was 10. The 32-year-old has amassed 226 goals and won the Bundesliga title for the 11th time this season, a record for the German top flight.
The club’s statement stated that fans couldn’t imagine Mueller without FC Bayern – nor FC Bayern without Thomas Mueller. “That’s why we’re very happy that Thomas has extended his contract until the summer (of) 2024. Thomas is a leader who’s hungry for success, and a role model on and off the pitch who embodies FC Bayern better than anyone,” Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern’s board member for sport, said in a statement.

As the news was confirmed and circulated widely, Muller too released a statement stating that he is “extremely happy.”
“The road I have travelled since I joined the youth academy in 2000 has been a wonderful success story”, he said. He added further by stating that he enjoys representing these colours on and off the pitch every year, even when the going gets tough.
