Yet another day passes by at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympic games and although there was a lot of hope from the Indian contingent, there has been no addition to the medal tally on Friday. The women's team did put up a spirited show against Great Britain this morning but eventually lost the match 3-4 to end their campaign fourth. While it was goalkeeper Savita who was the star of the team in the first quarter, saving two penalty corners, and three field-goal attempts, Gurjit Kaur first and later Vandana Katariya starred for India as they even managed to take the lead. However, at the end of it all Great Britain beat India to clinch the bronze.

The big positives from the day were that Bajrang Punia did manage to reach the semifinals in the Men's Freestyle 65kg wrestling and despite losing is still in contention for bronze. Moreover, Aditi Ashok, India's golfing sensation is tied second after three rounds and is chasing the country's first medal in the sport at the Olympics. If both of them can get a medal, then India's tally will surpass their best-ever finish which came at London 2012 with six medals. India has won 5 medals till now, 2 silver and 3 bronze.
