The Men's USA Basketball team registered an emphatic win over Iran in the group stage of the Tokyo Olympics. The USA completely dominated the game and registered a 54-point win. This was the USA's first win at Tokyo 2020. They had come to play against Iran after losing their first match against France, their first loss at the Olympics since 2004. They needed to bounce back and they did it in their own way- the dominant USA way.
The star-studded Team USA had everything that a team could ask for. They showed that they are not just strong on paper but the court literally belongs to them. Iranians were completely outplayed by the USA. Gregg Popovic's guys blew Iran out with a score of 120-66. Damian Lillard did what he does the best- knock down shots from behind the arc at sheer consistency.
Dame Dolla, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, everyone played their A-game. Dolla secured 21 points, Booker 16 points, Tatum 14 points, Zach Lavine 13 points, and Durant 10 points.
Twitter users were quick to react to this amazing performance by favourites. People came up with hilarious tweets to express their glee. A user wrote, “USA's basketball team did more damage to Iran than the economic sanctions.”
