India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has taken to commentary like fish to water. Not only has he brought in a new perspective in the commentary box, the fact that he is not too far removed from the current crop of cricketers has also helped his understanding of the game and thus enriched his commentary. The way he conducted himself alongside Ian Bishop, Kumar Sangakkara and Sunil Gavaskar while on air in the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand is being appreciated by fans as well as experts like Harsha Bhogle.

Moreover, Karthik even got to spend some time with the legendary Sunil Gavaskar, who turned 72 on Saturday. The two were the only broadcasters from India in the United Kingdom and hence DK closely bonded with the former India opener. The Tamil Nadu cricketer also shared a picture with him watching Tennis at Wimbledon.

Rohan Gavaskar, Sunil Gavaskar's son, also a former India cricketer, was quick to react to DK's post recalling how Karthik had taken his spot in the Playing XI for India and how he is doing it again at Wimbledon.

“When DK (Dinesh Karthik) made his debut for India, he took my spot in the playing XI against England. He has now taken my spot at Wimbledon too (laughing emojis) Hope you guys had some strawberries and cream and washed it down with some Pimms, buddy,” Rohan commented.

Meanwhile, Rohan has backed Team India to do well after their loss in the World Test Championship final. He stated that despite that loss in the titular clash, Team India remain a strong team who have done well in the last 2-3 years. India will take on England in a five-match Test series set to commence on August 4.
