Don't cry because it's over but smile because it happened! Although the fans couldn't get their full quota of T20 cricket promised by IPL 2021, the 29 matches that happened after which it has been suspended indefinitely, provided some great entertainment. Although the tournament was some the emergence of some real good uncapped domestic bowlers- the likes of Avesh Khan, Chetan Sakariya and Harshal Patel, the shortest format of the game is definitely about the big hits, the fours and sixes and we were privileged to witness batting of the highest quality.

Underneath is an attempt to list the top-5 best knocks from the now-suspended tournament which saw several good innings.

1. Hundred that won hearts but ended up on losing side

In match 4 of IPL 2021, Sanju Samson produced super innings on his captaincy debut. The Kerala cricketer almost single-handedly took his team home while chasing 221 against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. While the chips were down and the equation looked improbable with the scoreboard reading 123/4 in the 13th over, the right-handed batsman put on a counter-attacking genius which left the fans awestruck. His innings of 119 from 63 balls included 12 boundaries and 7 sixes. However, trying to clear the fence off the last ball, he was caught at the deep and Punjab clinched the match by 4 runs. Despite being on the losing side, Samson collected the Player of the Match.
