World Number 10 Tennis player Hubert Hurkacz has decided to donate 100 euros (USD 105.54) for every ace he hits at Wimbledon 2022 towards relief efforts in Ukraine. On the eve of his first-round match at Wimbledon, Hurkacz, who has been backing Ukraine ever since Russia started its military invasion, made his decision public via a social media post.

Taking to Twitter, Hubert Hurkacz stated that he is pledging to donate 100 euros for every ace he hits at Wimbledon to help and support the people of Ukraine. He wrote: "I’d like to announce that starting tomorrow I am pledging to donate 100 euros for every ace I hit at Wimbledon to help support the people of Ukraine. Hope my serve works well!"

Notably, the grass-court Grand Slam has banned players from Russia and Belarus from playing at this year's Wimbledon following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. However, ATP has stripped Wimbledon of ranking points after the ban on Russian and Belarusian players.

The top-seeded Polish player is seeded 7th at Wimbledon 2022 and is third on the ATP tour in aces this season with 452 in 39 matches for an average of more than 11 aces per match. Hurkacz reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2021, beating Roger Federer and Daniil Medvedev en route. He hit 54 aces in 6 matches at last year's Championships.

The 25-year-old will kick start his grass-court campaign on Monday against Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. Hurkacz is coming on the back of his first ATP 500 trophy at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle. Hurkacz became Poland's highest-ranked men's singles player in history in November 2021 he reached a career-high ranking of No. 9 in the world. He reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2021, recording multiple quality wins including Roger Federer and Daniil Medvedev.
