The Ahmedabad leg in IPL 2021 began in some style as Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders produced a roller-coaster contest on Monday. While KKR did lose their way during the run-chase, they finally managed to register a comprehensive 5-wicket win in the end, breaking their four-match losing streak.

The evening started with Eoin Morgan finally winning something as the toss went in favour of the Englishman. KL Rahul failed once again at the Narendra Modi Stadium and came under the radar of Twitterati. While Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran also had disappointing outings, the Punjab fans trolled the franchise for not including the world's no. 1 T20 batsman, Dawid Malan. Brilliant spells from Sunil Narine (2/22) and Prasidh Krishna (3/20) restricted Punjab to a modest total of 123/9 in 20 overs.

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a horrible start as they lost the wickets of openers Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill inside two overs. With the tides turned once again, the duo of Rahul Tripathi (41 off 32) and Eoin Morgan (47* off 40) steadied the ship and eventually helped their side get over the line in only 16.4 overs.
