Manchester United and Chelsea gathered to play a highly competitive 1-1 draw in the Premier League on Thursday as star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo scored an equaliser. The Portuguese superstar led the Red Devils, with Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford behind him as Jadon Sancho missed out from the game due to illness.
Nemanja Matic partnered with Scott McTominay in midfield, with the back-four also remained unchanged following 1-0 defeat against Arsenal last time out. Meanwhile, the Blues were studded with extremely quality players in Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Mason Mount in the attack. Jorginho and N’Golo Kante started in the middle wit
h Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso on either flank. The return of Antonio Rudiger and Reece James boosted the starting lineup, partnering Thiago Silva in the back three.
Chelsea dominated the first half, making multiple chances with James, Kante and Havertz unable to open the scoring. United’s goalkeeper David De Gea pulled off some stunning saves denying multiple opportunities from Chelsea’s strikers. However, Chelsea took the lead in the second half, as Alonso volleyed in a low shot past De Gea after Havertz netted on James’ cross to the full-back.
A couple of minutes later, star footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the game after Matic took advantage of Kante’s misplaced pass and dinked the ball into the forward, who took it down and assured a lead. Despite many attempts made by both the clubs, none of them could turn into cheer as the significant action of the game shared the spoils. A draw does neither side any favours as the Blues currently sit 3rd in the table, six points ahead of Arsenal at 4th. Meanwhile, Manchester United are 6th, five points off the Gunners.
