It was an enthralling day as West Indies finished Day 1 of the second Test against Bangladesh with their scorecard reading 223/5. Nkrumah Bonner, who played an anchor alongside Kyle Mayors in the first Test, continued with his good form and finished the day unbeaten on 74 and frustrated the Bangladesh bowlers. Abu Jayed and Taijul Islam scalped two wickets each, while Soumya Sarkar, who came into the side instead of the injured Shakib Al Hasan scalped 1 wicket.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers, John Campbell and skipper Kraigg Brathwaite put on a solid partnership of 66 runs for the first wicket. But then, Campbell got dismissed for 36.

A flurry of wickets soon followed as West Indies lost their next three wickets for only 50 runs. However, Jermaine Blackwood and Bonner then took the charge and put on a partnership of 62 runs for the fifth wicket. But then, off the last ball of the 72nd over, Taijul Islam removed Blackwood.
