Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings are having an unlikely outing during the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The Yellow Army is not just having disappointing results but also dealing with injuries. After Chennai's premium pacer Deepak Chahar was ruled out of the entire tournament, another blow came in the form of New Zealand pacer Adam Milne who suffered a hamstring injury.

The four-time champions have signed Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana for the base price of Rs. 20 Lakh as a replacement for Milne for the rest of the season. The 17-year-old Pathirana is popularly known as 'Junior Malinga' in the local cricket circuit due to his slinging action. The lanky pacer had grabbed many headlines earlier for clocking an unprecedented speed of 175 kph during the U19 World Cup 2020 game against India. However, soon after, it was made clear that he didn't deliver the ball with that speed, and it was a technical glitch that turned so many heads.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Matheesha's inclusion:

Sri Lanka's young prodigy does not have much experience playing at the senior level. He has so far played 1 List A and 2 T20 matches in his career, picking up two wickets in the shortest form of the game. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings have managed to win a single game in the league and are currently placed at 9th position in the points table.
