Mirabai Chanu scripted history as she won a silver medal in women's 49kg weightlifting as India got off the mark in the medal's tally at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, becoming only the 15th individual medallist in the nation's Olympic history. Chanu also ended the country's 21-year-old wait for a weightlifting medal at the Olympics as she clinched a silver medal on Saturday.

The 26-year-old lifted a total of 202 Kg (87kg + 115 Kg) to better Karnam Malleswari's bronze in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. With this, she also lived up to her reputation and made it up for her failure in the 2016 games.
