As BCCI announced the 15-member squad for India's upcoming T20 World Cup campaign, there were quite a lot of surprises which left the fans absolutely stunned. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel were named in the squad despite not playing too many T20Is for the Men in Blue in recent times. On the other hand, two of India's most experienced campaigners in the shortest format - Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal - did not find a place in the squad, which raised quite a few eyebrows.

Dhawan has notably been one of the best Indian batsmen in last couple of seasons of IPL. On the other hand, Chahal has been India's leader of spin attack and is one of the best leg spinners in the world right now. Talking about the exclusion of Yuzvendra Chahal, India's chief selector Chetan Sharma said, "We have picked Rahul Chahar over Yuzi as we wanted someone who bowls fast and gets pace off the pitch.”

"Ashwin is the only off-spinner in the squad. Varun is a mystery spinner who is a surprise package for the world," he added.
