The much-anticipated grand finale of inaugural edition of World Test Championship finally kicked off on Saturday under very gloomy conditions. Both the sides opted for absolutely contrasting strategies as India went ahead with two spinners in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja while the Kiwis selected four pacers in their playing XI and dropped left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel. Although it looked like a fair decision considering the overcast conditions, former Aussie spinner Shane Warne opined that Kane Williamson's side did a big mistake by not playing a spinner.

Very disappointed in NZ: Shane Warne

The 51-year-old expressed his disappointment as the Kiwis chose not to play any spin bowler in the WTC 2021 final against India. Shane Warne made a very crucial observation regarding the huge foot marks that were developing already on the wicket which could make the ball turn later in the game. "India make anything more than 275/300, the match is over unless weather comes in," tweeted Warne.

Interestingly, a user on Twitter questioned Warne's opinion and asked if he understands how spin works in cricket. He added that this pitch won't get dry because of rain throughout the match.

Here's the screenshot of the conversation:

Fans troll the Twitter user for questioning Warne

The netizens were quick to roast the user who did take into account how foot marks and other factors could also bring spinners into play. The funny part about the whole banter was that the user was questioning the knowledge of a spinner who has 1001 international wickets to his name. While some fans hailed Warne as the 'God of Spin', the others just produced some hilarious memes in reply. After facing backlash for his tweet, the user later deleted the tweet.
