Volkanovski emerges victorious

Coming to the fight between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski, the Australian emerged victorious. Volkanovski was declared the winner with the judges all scoring 50-45. With this win at the co-event of UFC 276, Volkanovski extended his lead over Max Holloway and made it 3-0. However, the Australian reserved some praise for his opponent and called him a beast.

"Max Holloway is an absolute beast, that intensity he brought, that we've both had, I needed it. I knew I was the best I just wanted to remind myself," said the champion. "I just proved to you that I want to be in this octagon as much as possible. I want to be busy and I don't think this division can keep me busy. I want to move up and be double-champ and if I get both belts, I'll keep both divisions busy."

Now, after defending his belt in the featherweight, Volkanovski is keen on moving to lightweight where the belt is technically vacant after controversy over Charles Oliveira's recent weight miss. He tipped the scales half-a-pound heavier than allowed for his second title defense against Justin Gaethje, meaning only the challenger could win the belt, which he didn't as the Brazilian submitted him in two rounds.
