Pacer Umesh Yadav has completely recovered from his injury and has been added to India's Test squad for the last two games against England in the longest format. Notably, the fast bowler had appeared for a fitness test on Sunday (February 21) at Motera Stadium after which he has been given the green signal for the upcoming games. Meanwhile, pacer Shardul Thakur, who failed to get a game against England despite being in the Test team, has been released to take part in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

India's squad for the last two Tests

Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav

How Umesh Yadav’s inclusion could benefit India?

Given India are playing the pink-ball Test next, Umesh Yadav’s addition is going to give a big boost to India. The side had experienced pacers only in Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing series so far, but now Yadav’s inclusion gives them an opportunity to play with three experienced bowlers in the pink-ball game, which particularly favours seam bowling. Interestingly, the previous pink-ball Test that happened in India saw the pacers picking 27 of the 29 wickets that fell in the game.
