John Cena’s farewell tour has been a focal point of WWE’s 2025 programming. The tour which began earlier this year, allows the 48-year-old star to perform in key cities and events while engaging with fans who have supported him over his two-decade WWE career. The global tour includes Cena’s upcoming WWE Clash In Paris against Logan Paul on August 31, 2025, and a headline role at the inaugural Wrestlepalooza event on September 20, 2025 with the retirement match scheduled on December 13, 2025.
In a recent interview on ESPN SportsCenter with host Brian Custer, WWE's Chief Creative Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque offered glowing praise for John Cena, describing the 17-time WWE Champion as “the greatest of all time”. The discussion centred on Cena's year-long farewell to in-ring competition.“For him, this sort of year-long tour is about him giving back. This is him going back to that and saying thanks for the ride. Thanks for following me,” Triple H said about John Cena.
He further added, “It’s about him, you know, going to all these cities and towns that he has been, that have made him one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time, that have made him the Hollywood box office attraction that he is, that have made him so successful and helped him along that journey.. He’ll always be a part of the WWE. He is ingrained in our fabric as we are ingrained in his.”
Logan Paul boasts wins over AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, and Kevin Owens in WWE
The clash of John Cena and Logan Paul is expected to be an iconic one, with Cena’s legacy as a WWE cornerstone pitted against Paul’s brash, and a reported controversy-courting persona. Paul, known as “The Maverick,” has made waves in WWE despite his part-time status, earning wins over AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, and Kevin Owens. A win over Cena would be a career-defining moment for Paul since he has been a fan of the wrestling legend for such a long time.
Moreover, John Cena expressed his excitement for the match versus Logan Paul while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this August. He seemed elated about doing everything in his wrestling career except experiencing Lyon and France’s crowd, which will happen on WWE's European tour this month.
