In a surprising turn of events, WWE dropped a cryptic video on Sunday, October 26, in which a mystery superstar could be seen. The short clip just shows the feet of a man walking forward a few paces while sporting dress slacks and fashionable shoes. Although it doesn't reveal much, fans are already speculating that the mysterious person could be Gunther. Since losing the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at SummerSlam, Gunther has apparently been sidelined due to surgery for a nasal injury, which he sustained before the fight.

It is important to remember that WWE will be quite busy with its upcoming Premium Live Events (PLE) in the next couple of months, including John Cena's farewell bout at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13 in Washington, D.C. and before that, Survivor Series: WarGames on November 29 in San Diego and Saturday Night's Main Event on November 1 in Salt Lake City. With that, it would make sense for Gunther to make his WWE return and earn his way to the top of the mountain once again, especially with reports circulating for weeks that he could be the last opponent for John Cena.

Teddy Long thinks Gunther is the star on the WWE main roster

According to Teddy Long, a former American professional wrestling referee and manager, there is a high chance of Gunther returning to the ring very soon. He even praised the Ring General for his presence out of the ring. While speaking to Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, he said, "Maybe that's why, but the thing about Gunther, and always, and I learned this from this, Gunther is believable. Okay. That's all. When you see him come out of that curtain or wherever, you know that he is going down to fight."

Before CM Punk match at SummerSlam, Gunther wrestled Goldberg in a title match on Saturday Night's Main Event in July. Gunther retired him and retained the World Heavyweight Championship on the show in Atlanta. Meanwhile, fans are also speculating that the aforementioned teaser might be for Tony D'Angelo, who was fired from NXT television in late July after appearing in a backstage segment reminiscent of The Sopranos.

Santos Escobar, who hasn't competed for WWE since the summer but supposedly re-signed with the organization earlier this month, may also be hinting to his comeback in the video.
