Tokyo Olympics is all set to begin from 23rd of July and the sports fans around the world are as excited as ever. In a recent update, the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) announced that the country will send a huge number of athletes for the forthcoming Games. The USA will send a contingent of 329 women athletes and 284 men athletes, totaling a number of 613 athletes to represent the nation for the Tokyo Games. This is the second largest delegation that the stars and stripes nation has sent ever.

What is the highest number of athletes that USA sent ever?

USA sent a whopping number of athletes back in 1996 Games of Atlanta, where the nation had 648 delegates representing the country. The current delegation of 613 athletes is their highest since then. USA has always had plenty of talented sportsperson and has had huge success in the Grandest Games.

Team USA looks all ready for the grand event scheduled to be held from 23 July. “Team USA is ready. Our roster includes 613 remarkable athletes, one of our biggest teams ever, all who qualified to participate in these Games,” said USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland.

“In these extraordinary times - these athletes have shown perseverance, dedication and focus and have inspired us all. We are thrilled to support them as they live their dreams of competing on the biggest stage in sport,” she added.

Who are the youngest and eldest athletes from the side?

USA in its 613 member list is sending Katie Grimes, as the youngest athlete, who is only 15 years old. However, the have names Phillip Dutton as the eldest star, aged 57 years. USA for the third consecutive time has sent a delegation of athletes in which female stars outnumber the male stars. Also, out of the 613 stars, 193 are returning Olympians, 104 are Olympic medalists and 56 are champions.
