Virat Kohli becomes first cricketer with 100 million followers on Instagram

With the new feat, Kohli stands at the number 4 position among the most followed athletes.

Virat Kohli has become the first cricketer to reach 100 million followers on Instagram. The news was shared by ICC via Twitter on Monday night. Notably, Kohli has now joined the list which includes big names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Dwayne Johnson. The Indian cricket team skipper has put a total of 1,128 posts on his Instagram account. He follows 198 people on the social platform. Apart from Instagram, Kohli has a fan base of 40.8 million on Twitter along with 36.9 million followers on Facebook.

Kohli 4th on list of most followed athletes across all sports

With the feat of 100 million followers, Virat Kohli stands at the number 4 position among the most followed athletes. The list is topped by Cristiano Ronaldo who has 266 million followers on Instagram. The Portuguese striker is followed by Argentina star and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi, who has 187 million followers. Meanwhile, Brazil forward Neymar takes the third spot with 147 million followers.

Kohli's international career

Revered as one of the greatest cricket has ever seen, Kohli has dominated the world cricket in the recent decade. In overall, Kohli has played 251 ODIs, 90 Tests and 85 T20Is, scoring 12040, 7490 and 2928 runs respectively. It is worth noting that Kohli, who has hit 70 international centuries so far, is just one short of Ricky Ponting's record of scoring the second-most international tons. Sachin Tendulkar is at the helm of affairs with 100 international centuries.
