It was 18th of August 2008 when a chubby boy Virat Kohli entered into the international arena. It was India's first ODI against Sri Lanka in the five-match series and the newcomer could manage only 12 off 22 balls. India lost the game and Kohli could obviously feel the high pressure of the international stage. However, as his life had been so far, the player didn't bog down to it and after registering scores of 37 and 25 in the second and third ODIs, he finally got to raise his bat in the fourth game in which he scored his maiden international fifty.
Despite scoring small runs in the series, Kohli's class and potential to become one of the good players of the game was evident. However, barely did anyone know that his resilience, aggression and dominating attitude will see him conquer the world of cricket one day. A player was in the making and the many cricket veterans of India had certainly smelled it early on.
Marching to the international circuit with an U-19 World Cup win in 2008, Kohli had already shown glimpses of his captaincy skills and his amazing batting technique. However, international cricket is overall a different arena and it didn't take much time for Kohli to realise that. He soon adapted brilliantly to need of the hour and what followed is history. 12169 ODI runs with 43 centuries, 7609 runs with 27 tons, 3159 T20I runs and all that loaded with an in-your-face attitude and an amazing self-confidence, this what the current Virat Kohli is after 13 years of his toil in international cricket.
Considering the milestone he achieved on Wednesday, a party was due for the cricket great to himself. As he barely misses to enjoy the moment, Kohli walked outside with his wife and actor Anushka Sharma to enjoy a dinner at the Tendril Kitchen at Soho in London. The picture of Kohli's outing is now getting viral on social media.
Kohli and Co. lead 1-0 against England
After producing a breathtaking comeback at Lord's to seal the second Test by 151 runs in their favour, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series against the Three Lions. The third Test between the sides start on August 25. It is worth noting that England have recalled Dawid Malan and Saqib Mahmood into the squad while Zak Crawley and Dominic Sibley have been dropped from the side ahead of the third game.
