Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined by the match referee following his team's 69-run loss to Chennai Super Kings on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, the RCB skipper has been handed the penalty for maintaining a slow over rate in the game against CSK.

Given that it was the first offence of the season for Virat Kohli's men under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, the skipper was fined INR 12 lakh. It was definitely an unforgettable day for Virat Kohli as his team lost the match and he got fined later on.

RCB suffer first their loss of the season

Virat Kohli's men, who came into the game against CSK with a four-match unbeaten streak, eventually suffered their first loss of the IPL 2021 edition. It all started with MS Dhoni winning the toss and opting to bat first. Till the 19th over, CSK posted 154/4 with Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni at the crease. By that time, the game was a roller-coaster ride in which both the sides were performing decently, but what followed was absolute carnage from Jadeja.

Purple Cap-holder Harshal Patel came in to bowl the 20th over which is now going to be the most memorable over of his life. The right-arm pacer was smashed was Jaddu all over the park for a total of 37 runs in the over, which included as many as 5 sixes and a no-ball. Courtesy of the unbelievable hitting from Jadeja, CSK piled up 191/4.

The southpaw didn't stop there and returned figures of 3/13 in his four overs as CSK won the game by 69 runs. Imran Tahir also did well to help the team's cause with his 2/16.
