Indian star batter Virat Kohli is likely to miss the 2nd ODI against England, scheduled to be played on Thursday, after failing to recover from groin injury, according to reports. The former Indian skipper missed the 1st ODI due to the injury and Shreyas Iyer was included in the Playing XI.

Despite being ruled out of the match, Virat Kohli travelled with the team to stadium but didn't take part in the warm-ups and team drills. Amidst massive criticism from cricket pundits over his inclusion in the squad despite poor performances, Virat Kohli has reportedly requested BCCI to grant him rest from the five-match T20Is against West Indies.

As per reports, Indian selectors are of the opinion to field full-strength squad against West Indies as a preparation for the upcoming T20I World Cup but Kohli is expected to get a rest from the tour.

Speaking of 1st ODI against England, Team India dominated the game as Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah picked his maiden six-wicket haul in ODIs. Apart from Bumrah, Mohammad Shami too played a vital role in the game as he claimed three wickets.

England batters had a disappointing outing as four of them were dismissed on a duck. The likes of Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Liam Livingstone were the notable batters who could not even open their account.

In response to England's 110, Indian openers Rohit Sharma (76 off 58) and Shikhar Dhawan (31 off 54) remained unbeaten to ensure easy win for the visitors. Both teams will now face each other at iconic Lord's stadium in London on Thursday.
