Chakda Xpress to tell Jhulan Goswami’s story to the audience

Coming to the film, directed by Prosit Roy, Chakda Xpress will be bringing Indian women’s cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s life story to the screen for the audience to see. Anushka Sharma will be playing the pacer in her biopic who became the second Indian woman cricketer to receive the Padma Shri in 2012. It marks Anushka’s comeback to acting after she took a break.

Notably, the actress had announced the movie with an inspiring caption and had called the project ‘special’. “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket,” had writen Sharma in the caption of the teaser post.

“At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket.”
