The former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been dealing with a dip form and isn’t in a great mental space as per sources close to him. Hence Kohli will stay back in London with his wife and daughter and completely avoid cricket for a month. Reports add that he will return to the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022 towards the end of August.

Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika have already joined him in London. The 33-year-old will also be joined by his mother Saroj Kohli. The Kohli family is set to move to an undisclosed location for the break to recover from the mental fatigue caused by being constantly questioned about his place in the team.

Further reports also add that Indian selectors have considered Virat Kohli as a crucial part in the team for The T20 World Cup. But if he fails to get back in form, he will be dropped from the World Cup team. He could potentially be dropped from India’s home series against Australia as well.

A member of the selection committee was quoted saying, “There will always be a low after high and that is exactly what Virat is going through. But considering the team, nobody is immune. Ajinkya and Pujara too have been dropped and so did so many other cricketers. He will certainly feature in the T20 World Cup if he is fit. But that will be his last chance as we have to look at the team as well. If he doesn’t get his form back, he will be asked to go back to domestic and get his form back.”

But India’s current captain Rohit Sharma has backed his star player and said, “He has played so many matches, over such a long period of time. He is such a great batter, so he does not need reassurance.” If Rohit’s support was not enough, his English counterpart Jos Buttler too backed Kohli to regain his touch, and said a big knock is “always due” from a player of his caliber”.
