Fans breaching the security to meet their favourite player is something which is quite common in relevance to Indian cricket. A similar incident hogged limelight during Day 1 of India’s ongoing pink-ball Test against England when a fan broke the security and ran to the ground to meet India skipper Virat Kohli who at the that time was batting at the crease. However, Kohli, being well aware of the bio-secure protocols, kept himself away from the fan and acknowledged his effort with a pleasant smile. The fan eventually returned to the stands, receiving a big cheer from the crowd.

Here is the video:

Kohli failing to convert his starts once again

Virat Kohli has not been at his very best for quite a while now. The run machine is failing to convert his small scores into big ones. Even in the Indian innings of the ongoing pink-ball Test, Kohli got a good start with but failed to capitalize on it; playing a cut shot and losing his wicket eventually. In the ongoing series against England, Kohli has not been that effective as he managed just 172 runs across five innings he has batted.

India dominate play on Day 1

Though the day wasn’t that pleasing for Kohli, his side collectively put up a brilliant performance to overwhelm the visitors. Axar Patel’s 6-fer, Ravichandran’s Ashwin’s 3 and Ishant Sharma’s wicket bundled out England for 112 in the first innings after Root opted to bat first. In return, Jofra Archer and Jack Leach did well to reduce India to 34/2 but a 64-run stand between Kohli and Rohit Sharma again put the hosts in the driver’s seat. Rohit (57*) and Ajinkya Rahane (1*) will resume the Indian innings on Day 2 with the hosts still trailing by 13 runs.
