India's head coach Rahul Dravid feels skipper Virat Kohli's role in the three-match Test series against South Africa will be decisive for the team. Dravid, while addressing the media in the pre-match press conference said that Virat's experience as a Test cricketer and his performances overseas speaks volumes of his talent.

"Virat has led the team to some of the historic series wins overseas, and simultaneously he has performed well as a batsman. The kind of energy and attitude he brings to the team is unparalleled. For which, his presence in the team and on the ground is going to be vital in the series", Dravid said.

The head coach also highlighted the fact that Kohli's approach to winning the match is something that has transformed the team. "He always goes for victory, and nothing less. He is phenomenal in that aspect. He has injected the same approach in all the players and they all play like that", Dravid added.

Emphasizing on team's preparation before the series, Dravid informed that all the players are in great shape, mentally and physically. "Coming to South Africa early and attending several training sessions on and off the field helped players to adjust in South Africa weather. The condition here is too different, pitches are too bouncing and players have prepared well for that."

However, he also highlighted the fact that being in bio-bubble and following Covid protocols is a challenging environment for players but the dressing room environment is really nice which has helped players psychologically.

Responding to queries over South Africa's inexperienced bowling lineup, Dravid said that the host has a decent bowling line up and while playing in home conditions, they will have an edge. "Currently we are focusing on what's in our hands. We too have a great set of bowlers and a perfect blend of experience and excitement which completes our bowling line up, and it won't be easy for South Africans too", Dravid responded.

When asked about the playing XI for the first Test, Dravid said that it will be announced at the toss.
