Washington Sundar

All-rounder Washington Sundar will be available to play county cricket for Lancashire as he eyes game time after recovering from a hand injury that affected his IPL 2022 campaign. Sundar is currently working on his rehabilitation along with fellow India players like Deepak Chahar and T Natarajan at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

As per various sources, a BCCI official talked about how Washington Sundar is getting fully fit and would be seen playing county cricket. The official was quoted as saying, “Washington is nearing full fitness and he needs a lot of game time, which he will get only in red-ball cricket. He is going to play for Lancashire and this exposure will do him a world of good.”

The same was confirmed in a report carried out by news agency PTI.

Other than Washington Sundar‘s possible participation in County Cricket, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Deepak Chahar also updated about his injury while speaking to the same agency where he said that he is gradually getting back to bowling around ‘four to five overs’ but is still a few weeks away from being match fit. “I am bowling four to five overs at one go as per my rehab programme right now. My recovery is going pretty well and I think it will take another four to five weeks for me to get match fit,” said Chahar.

I will need to play some club-level games: Chahar

He then talked about how after being fully fit he will play some low-level games to test his fitness. He said, “It’s a step-by-step process as far as recovery is concerned. I don’t think I will be fit for England T20s. Once I am match fit, I will need to play some club-level games to check my fitness. “Chahar also talked about being very comfortable when he batted for a considerable amount of time.

I will definitely try and get fit before bilateral series against West Indies: Chahar

When asked about whether he will return for India’s bilateral series against the West Indies, Chahar talked about how the comeback will be completely dependent on his fitness but will give him maximum opportunity to play. “I can’t say that but I will definitely try and get fit by then. Let’s see,” the swing bowler said.
