As the Indian Premier League gears up for its first Royal Derby, former India opening batter Wasim Jaffer has already found the perfect analogy for this game. Jaffer posted a meme from the legendary Mahabharat TV show. The picture consists of Arjuna going head to head against his grandfather Bhishma Pitamah in the battle at Kurukshetra.

The picture was captioned, "@yuzi_chahal and @devdpd07 playing against RCB tonight. #RRvRCB #IPL2022."  Hence the photo indicates the emotions of players like Yuzvendra Chahal and Devdutt Paddikal facing their former team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Jaffer continued his banter about the game with a still from the 1993 film, Darr. The picture includes Sunny Deol as Virat Kohli hugging Juhi Chawla (Wanindu Hasaranga) while Shah Rukh Khan, who is the villain of the film, looks on as Yuzvendra Chahal. The tweet says, “Scenes tonight if Hasaranga takes a wicket ? #RRvRCB #IPL2022”

They know a lot about us, and we know a lot about them: Mike Hesson

In a video posted by RCB Twitter account, their Director of Cricket Mike Hesson also talked about how three former Bangalore players will face their former team for the first time. He said,  “Three former RCB players and those who we’ve become accustomed to seeing in Red and Gold will be in the opposition camp for the game tonight.”

“Devdutt Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Navdeep Saini will all turn up for the Royals on Tuesday. Having seen them in close quarters, does it give RCB an edge? “It probably helps both parties.”

“They know a lot about us, and we know a lot about them. So, once again it’s probably just down to how well people deal with pressure on the day. All good players that you mentioned, all have done well at times for RCB in the past. We’re looking forward to taking them on, but we’re obviously looking to get one over on them as well,” he explained.

Kohli has to use the paddle sweep: Ravi Shastri

Former India player and coach Ravi Shastri also chimed in the discussion about the Royal Derby where he had some words of wisdom for Virat Kohli. The former RCB captain has been struggling in the recent few games. Shastri said  “I think he should just play his game. I think he played very well in the first game, I liked the way he played. He used his feet, looked busy and was prepared to rock back well,” while speaking to ESPNCricinfo.

“What you want from Virat is to look busy. If you can't hit the big ones, make sure you are rotating the strike and making the bowlers think. He will play his natural game. "It's a good contest. These 2 are very good spinners,” he continued.

“He has to use the paddle sweep against these two. That's a part of the game he has to work on. Opposition teams know that when he comes to bat, he doesn't sweep (against the spinners). When you know that, the field placements can be done precisely. Once you start sweeping, I don't care who the spinner is, you're making him play,” Shastri added.
