All eyes are on the three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after they had a forgettable run in IPL 2020. While they had become the first team to be eliminated from the Playoffs race last season, given that the team is known for making a comeback, no side would make the mistake of underestimating the MS Dhoni-led side. Although the team is filled with star players, it is a relatively lesser-known youngster who is hogging the limelight in the net sessions.

Afghanistan speedster impresses with raw pace at nets

Other than their buys in the auctions, which included the likes of Moeen Ali, Krishnappa Gowtham and Cheteshwar Pujara, they also roped in some handy net bowlers. While South Africa's Hardus Viljoen was seen bowling to the CSK batsmen in the nets, Chennai also included Afghanistan cricketers namely Noor Ahmed and Fazalhaq Farooqi. While Noor Ahmed is a left-arm unorthodox spinner, Fazalhaq Farooqi is a left-arm pacer.

It was the 20-year-old Farooqi who made the cricketing fraternity take notice of his pace and talent. During one of the net session, Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled at some serious pace and maintained a good line and length. He recently made his international debut against Zimbabwe and ended with figures of 1/27 in his quota of 4 overs.

Although he is not yet part of the CSK squad, with the franchise struggling to find a replacement for Josh Hazlewood, Farooqi might be considered for that spot in their side owing to his impressive performance in the nets.
