Five-time champions Mumbai Indians will kick start their IPL campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 27 at Brabourne Stadium. Mumbai missed the playoffs by the slightest of margins last season. They would want to rectify their mistakes this time around and would be looking to add to their five IPL trophies.

Suryakumar Yadav joined the Mumbai Indians camp on Saturday after recovering from his injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The 31-year-old had sustained a hairline fracture on his thumb last month during India’s T20I series against West Indies. While Suryakumar is expected to miss Mumbai Indians' opening game against Delhi Capitals, he is likely to be available for selection from Mumbai's second game of the season, which is against Rajasthan Royals.

Mumbai Indians announced Suryakumar Yadav's arrival in grand style as wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan narrated the famous dialogue from Bollywood movie Sooryavanshi saying, 'Akkha public ko malum hei kaun aane vale hei'. After that, the camera focusses on Suryakumar who then makes a wonderful entry into the team's bio-bubble in hotel.

Notably, Mumbai Indians retained four players in their squad for INR 42 Crore. The 2020 IPL champions retained captain Rohit Sharma for INR 16 Crore, Jasprit Bumrah for INR 12 Crore, Suryakumar Yadav for INR 8 Crore, and Kieron Pollard for INR 6 Crore. MI made Ishan Kishan their highest-paid player in auction at the cost of INR 15.25 Crore. He also became the second-most expensive Indian player in IPL history.
