Australia dominated the English team in the final of the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup as they scored 356 in the first innings. Wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy scored a historic 170 off 138 balls with 26 boundaries. While other batters like Rachel Haynes and Beth Mooney scored 68 and 62 respectively.

They continued their control over the game in the second innings as they dismissed another semi-final centurion Danielle Wyatt for just four runs. They also sent back Tammy Beaumont at 27 and Heather Knight at 26 as they were 85 for three in 14 overs. But then Natalie Sciver and Amy Jones tried building a decent partnership of 43 runs. Here Alana Kings pulled off a screamer of a catch to dismiss Jones at 20 in 18 balls.

Jess Jonassen with her experience plotted a perfect plan to break this threatening partnership. She made a few key field changes and invited the English batters to clear the infield. Jones fell into this trap and went for a lofted shot but miss-timed it. Alana King spotted the ball, started running back and then held on to a spectacular catch.

King also dismissed the English captain Heather Knight at 62. She sent out a slider towards the then set looking batter which landed towards the middle stump with a falter trajectory. Knight misjudged the ball which went past her and hit her back pad right in front of the middle stump. Alana King ended her spelling clinching three crucial wickets, conceding 64 runs in her 10 overs spell.
