Although cricket is just a game at the end of the day, there have been cases in the past in which can be life-threatening or even fatal. There are chances of serious injuries on the field and even the spectators watching the sport have been hurt on a few occasions in the past.

However, Quetta Gladiators star Andre Russell seem to have gotten away with a major injury scare. Russell, who usually dictates the terms to the bowlers, received a nasty blow on his helmet during the ongoing Pakistan Super League match against Islamabad United. Although he decided to continue, he couldn't last long and was out the next ball. It remains to be seen whether he is able to come back and take the field.

The incident unfolded in the 14th over of the Gladiator innings. While the West Indies all-rounder had hit Muhammad Musa for two back to back sixes, the bowler responded with a short pitch delivery which stuck him on the helmet. Musa then followed that with a slower bouncer to get rid of the danger man.

Check out the video of Russell's dismissal:

After being invited to bat first, Gladiators have lost wickets at regular intervals and have scored 102/5 at the end of 14 overs. Jake Weatherald has been their leading run-scorer so far who scored a 35-ball 43. They will hope for a quickfire finish to reach a strong total and try and defend the score later. More importantly, Quetta Gladiators fans would hope Russell is fit and fine and takes the field in the second innings.
