The 15th match of IPL 2022 took an interesting turn after Anrich Nortje was asked to go out of the bowling attack in the 16th overs of the LSG innings. The on-field umpires asked Rishabh Pant to take the pacer off the attack after he bowled two beamers in the game. Nortje bowled the first beamer against Quinton de Kock in the 14th over and he then bowled another one against Deepak Hooda in the 16th over.

On-field umpires Rod Tucker and Tapan Sharma immediately asked Pant to stop Nortje from bowling. The Delhi Captain then had to complete the over with Kuldeep Yadav.

Forgettable outing for Nortje

The DC pacer looked in trouble right from the first delivery he bowled on Thursday evening. In his first over, Quinton de Kock hit him for three consecutive boundaries and then a six on the fifth ball. In his next over, Nortje bowled a beamer on the first delivery that also went for six. He then gave eight more runs, making it a total of 15 in the over. In his third over, he bowled another beamer after which the umpires decided to take him off the attack. Eventually, he ended the game with the bowling figures of 2.2-0-35-0.

Delhi lose momentum

After thrashing Mumbai in their opening game of the season, Delhi Capitals were looking good. They were expected to get better with the return of their superstars but that did not happen. As a result, they lost the second game against Gujarat as they failed to chase 172. In their third game of the season, they faced an upbeat Lucknow. None of their two top overseas players, David Warner and Anrich Nortje performed. While Nortje could not complete even his four overs, Warner departed after scoring a 12-ball 4. This poor show from DC eventually cost them the match.
