Despite playing with 14 men, Australia clinched an outstanding victory against England 30-28 in Perth on Saturday. While Australia pulled off a close victory, Tom Banks broke his arm after a collision with England’s Billy Vunipola took place in the second half. Tom Banks used his arm as a cushion while he landed, but in the process, his arm suffered a major fracture.

After jumping high into the air in a bid to catch Nic White’s 22nd-minute restart, Tom Banks’ left arm bent as he crashed onto the ground. The 28-year-old was rushed immediately off the field on a medicab before being taken to the hospital.

Banks broke his right arm last year and underwent surgery this year for a facial fracture. Responding to Tom Banks injury, Wallabies coach Dave Rennie termed it ‘pretty serious.’ “It was an outstanding commitment to the kick-off, and he ended up high and flipped over the back of someone,” he said.

Adding further, Rennie stated that he is gutted for Tom Banks as he has worked really hard and given everything to the game. He had a great season. “We will miss him,” he said.

The injury woes didn’t remain there, but prop Allan Ala’alatoa went off in the 26th minute after copping a knock and was unable to return. However, the hosts had an injury-driven day as Cooper too injured his left calf while the Wallabies were completing their warm-up at Optus Stadium.

Noah Lolesio replaced Cooper in the playing line-up while James O’Connor was brought onto the bench. Notably, Cooper led the Wallabies to five straight wins last year after his four-year exile from the national side ended. Reports have claimed that O’Connor was part of a corporate function before the match but he was rushed to the room to get changed once Cooper’s injury was confirmed.
