Manchester United opened their Premier League 2021-22 campaign in an emphatic manner as the Red Devils absolutely demolished Leeds United 5-1 on Saturday. Playing in front of a full-capacity crowd at Old Trafford, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side certainly proved that they mean business this season after producing a football masterclass for 90 minutes.

Mason Greenwood and Fred were on the score-sheet but it was the midfield duo of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes which stole the show. While Pogba registered 4 assists in the contest, Bruno was at his absolute best as he slammed a brilliant hat-trick. The 26-year-old notably became only the 10th ever player to net a Premier League hat-trick on the opening matchday.

It was quite an evenly-contested first half of the match with both the sides getting a few half chances to take the lead. The first goal was always going to be crucial on the day and the Man Utd midfielders combined in a moment of magic at the half-way mark to break the deadlock. As Paul Pogba found Bruno Fernandes with a delightful through ball, the latter found the back of the net with an impressive left-foot finish.

The duo combined once again in the 54th minute and it was the same combo of through ball and left-foot strike to put Man Utd 3-1 up in the game. Just at the hour mark, Victor Lindelof found Bruno in lots of space as Bruno fired in a cracking finish to complete his first-ever hat-trick for the club.

Bruno Fernandes was certainly delighted to treat the returning fans at Old Trafford with a brilliant victory. Reflecting in his performance, he said, "My achievement every season is being better than the last one. Every goal this season, the performance I do, I want to do better and better. I start with 3 goals but it's a long way."

The 26-year-old added that they have an amazing group of players and their aim is to do better than last season. Bruno concluded that Man Utd will take it game by game this year and their focus is now on Southampton, with the two sides locking horns on August 22, Sunday at St. Mary's Stadium.
