The Delhi Capitals fast bowler Chetan Sakariya has returned to IPL cricket with a bang. After having a breakout 2021 campaign with Rajasthan Royals, where he picked up 14 wickets in 14 games while bowling at an average of 30.43 and an economy of 8.19. In the 2022 mega auction, the Delhi Capitals paid Rs 4.2 crore for the youngster.

After seven games in the IPL 2022, the 24-year-old finally made his Delhi debut. Sakariya started off his spell with good rhythm and delivered an accurate in-swinger. He then followed it up with a length ball which Aaron Finch mistimed and hit towards mid-wicket. But Rovman Powell dropped a difficult catch.

Then on the third ball, the 24-year-old went back to his inswinger which cleaned up Aaron Finch. Sakariya then capped off the wicket with a Dragon Ball Z celebration imitating Goku.

A similar celebration was performed by Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when scored a special goal against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Bernabeau Stadium. “Yes of course, exactly, Dragon Ball Z,” the former Arsenal player later explained to beIN Sports, affirming the reason behind his celebration.

“I had one wish, it was to simply win here. I thought a lot about my family, a lot about my grandparents who are no longer with us, but here, I'm happy to have scored for them today.” After the game, Aubameyang also posted a picture on social media where he proclaimed his return.

The picture was captioned, “Hello from the finished player.” Auba and Sakariya had recreated Goku's 'instant transmission', a technique that allows the Anime character and anyone in physical contact with them to instantly travel great distances.

“ I am just immensely impressed with him as an individual,” Sangakkara

Rajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara had also praised Chetan Sakariya for his attitude and temperament during his time with the 2008 Champions. While talking to ANI, he said, “Chetan Sakariya is brilliant, absolutely love him. His attitude, his smile, and he takes everything in his stride. The pressure does not seem to affect him. He is very confident, he knows what he is doing.

“He is always ready to compete, he has been through a very tough year personally and family-wise and I am just immensely impressed with him as an individual. Brilliant to have him in the side, his enthusiasm and courage rub off on everyone. He is definitely one for the long term.”
