Crowd chants Sachin - sportstiger

There is little doubt over the talent and potential that Shubman Gill possesses. He is a class act for sure and can only get better from here given these are early stages of his international career. The right-handed batter has played a few innings to remember already but he also has a few vulnerabilities in his game which he would like to attend.

Shubman was back to opening the batting for India along with Mayank Agarwal in each of the two-Test matches in the series and looked in great form getting good starts in a couple of his innings. However, he failed to reach his maiden hundred as yet and had to be satisfied with good-looking short innings in the context of Test match cricket.

During his 47 in the second innings of the Mumbai Test match, a rather cheeky chant emerged from the crowd. This happened in the 37th over of the Indian batting innings when the 22-year-old Shubman scored a boundary through the on side.

After the stroke which fetched Shubman and India four runs, the fans at the Wankhede stadium started chanting "Sachin...Sachin." The chant seemingly was supposed to be a tease at Shubman who is rumoured to be dating cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's daughter Sara.

The video of the incident is doing the rounds on internet. Check it out here:

As far as the match is concerned despite Ajaz Patel completing a historic 10-wicket haul in the first innings and continuing his good form with the ball in the second, the advantage is clearly to India who have put on a lead of over 500 runs. This was after they managed 325 in the first innings and later bowled the Kiwis out for a paltry 62. With over 2 days to go in the Test match, India seem favourites to win the Test and take the series 1-0.

Post the series, India will fly to South Africa where they will compete in Test matches and ODIs.
