The Australian batter David Warner arrived a little late in the Delhi Capitals camp but has emerged to be their leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League 2022. So far, he has amassed 427 runs at an average of 53.38, with five half-centuries.

In the fixture between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), Warner was dismissed for a duck off his first ball. However, he put up a solid show on the field throughout the bowling half of the team. The key example of his efforts was witnessed in the 18th over of DC's bowling innings when Shardul Thakur was the bowler.

With 37 needed off 15 balls, Thakur delivered a knuckleball to the wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma, who was going all guns blazing. Sharma could not judge the ball well and mistimed a shot, which gave a catching opportunity to Warner, who was fielding at the long-off position. The 35-year timed the dive to perfection and claimed a fantastic low catch to his left side and sent Sharma packing for a well-made 44 off 34.

This catch certainly put an end to all hopes for PBKS, as Rahul Chahar and Kagiso Rabada could not provide a flourish in the last two overs. Earlier, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav bamboozled the top and the middle-order of the Kings.

For Capitals, Sarfaraz Khan and Mitchell Marsh stitched a 51-run stand for the 2nd wicket, which helped the latter to set his eyes on the pitch. The Aussie batter Marsh garnered a match-winning 63 off 48 balls to help the team in posting a score of 159 on the board. The key performer with the ball for PBKS was Liam Livingstone with figures of 3/27 in four overs.
