The second ODI between West Indies Women and South Africa Women witnessed some mad hitting skills from Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews in the super over. As both teams' scores remained tied with both teams getting all out for 160, a one-over eliminator was played where the West Indian pair hammered every ball and gathered 25 runs in six balls. Deandra Dottin took the charge as she scored 19 runs off five balls.

After getting bowled out for 160 in the chase of 161, West Indies Women sent Matthews and Dottin to the crease while experienced Shabnim Ismail opened the attack for South Africa. Dottin took the strike and smashed the first ball for a couple of runs. She then played a scoop to the fine leg region for a boundary. On the third delivery, Dottin powered the ball to the long-off fence for four runs yielding 10 runs from the first three deliveries.

Ismail tried a slower ball on the fourth delivery but it pitched right in the slot for Dottin who crunched it for a maximum towards the long on boundary. On the fifth delivery, Ismail bowled a bit wider to which Dottin slapped in the air for three runs and brought Mathews on the strike for the last ball. The all-rounder did not disappoint her team and partner as she nailed the tennis-pull shot for a maximum making it 25 runs off the six balls.

West Indies take 1-0 lead

After some mad hitting, Hayley Matthews then came to defend the 25 runs and successfully did it. Chloe Tyron and Tazmin Brits came to the crease to score 26 runs from Matthew's over. Tyron started the proceedings really well by hitting the first ball for six runs. She then managed a single off the second delivery and brought Brits on strike who scored two back-to-back boundaries on the next two deliveries. The equation came down to 11 runs off the last two balls.

However, Matthews kept her nerves and only conceded two runs on the fifth delivery and a wicket on the last ball to win the game for her team. With this win, West Indies Women took a 1-0 lead in a 4-match series.
