Cricket unites people like few other things. And living up to it's reputation, cricket united two lovers who share an extensive rivalry on the cricket field. An England cricket fan, Rob Hale, got engaged to his Australian girlfriend Natalie after his proposal was accepted during the ongoing first Ashes Test at the Gabba in Brisbane as broadcasters captured the moment on the cameras.

It is being reported that Rob had met Natalie while he was in Australia with the Barmy Army during the last Ashes series down under in 2017. In a video that is now going viral, Rob can be seen going down on one knee and proposing to his girlfriend who accepts the same.

Australian broadcaster Channel 7 not only captured the moments on the camera but even shared a small video of the same on social media. As soon as Natalie said yes, there was a huge cheer by the crowd and even the commentators on air could not help but narrate the moment, shifting their focus away from the game.

Here is the video:

As far as the on-field action is concerned, England were bowled out for 147 in the first innings and later conceded a 278-run lead in the first innings. While Pat Cummins was the wrecker in chief for the Aussies, picking up a fifer on his Test captaincy debut in the first innings, Travis Heads' 152 coupled with David Warner's 94 and Marnus Labuschagne's 74 took Australia to a position of dominance in the series opener.

In the second batting innings, England are doing better than the first one but have a mountain to climb ahead of them after the position they find themselves in post their dismal show with the bat in the first innings after winning the toss.

Meanwhile, in an achievement off the field, Pat Cummins' tweet, in which he announced his decision to contribute to India's COVID-19 fight when the country was battling a severe second wave, became the most retweeted tweet in India in 2021. In addition, India Test captain Virat Kohli announcing the birth of his daughter in January 2021 became the most liked tweet of the year.
