Bayern Munich stormed into the second round of the German Cup with a 12-0 thrashing of fifth-tier Bremer SV. Striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored four and assisted three goals as Bayern Munich claimed their biggest win in 24 years. Youngster Jamal Musiala scored twice while Malik Tillman, Leroy Sane, Michael Cuisance, Bouna Sarr, and Corentin Tolisso also got on the scoresheet on Wednesday.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann left stars like Robert Lewandowski, Leon Goretzka and Manuel Neuer in Munich for this trip to Bremen, while Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies and Serge Gnabry were on the bench. But the visitors were relentless from the starting whistle even without their big-name players.

On top of his four goals, Cameroonian forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting also provided 2 assists for Musiala and 1 for Sarr. This was Bayern's biggest win since 1997 when they beat DJK Waldberg 16-1.

Bayern took off Müller, Joshua Kimmich and Niklas Süle at half-time and introduced Malik Tillman, Michaël Cuisance and Chris Richards. But there was was no respite for the home team as Bayern piled on the pressure on the fifth-tier team.

The home side went down to 10 men in 77th minute when Udo Nobile was sent off for fouling Tillmann. Bayern clocked up an incredible 37 shots in the match. Out of which, 21 were on target for the German champions.

The match was earlier scheduled to be played on August 6 but it was postponed due to a number of Coronavirus cases among the Bremen SV players.
