After a intense season so far, Everton FC finally secured their Premier League spot as they defeated Crystal Palace 3-2 in dramatic fashion. The Toffees were down 2-0 at the end of the first half but then launched a comeback thanks to Micheal Keane’s goal in the 54th minute. Then 21 minutes later, Brazilian forward Richarlison levelled the score at 2-2.
Finally, in the 85th-minute, it was Dominic Calvert-Lewin who scored a header from Demarai Gray’s free-kick to win the game and seal their spot for the next season. But moments after DCL’s goal, the entire Merseyside crowd jumped onto the field in the 85th minute which led to the game being halted for some time.

After the game, Everton manager Frank Lampard deemed this victory as one of the top footballing moments in his career. He said, “It is one of the greatest moments of my footballing life and career. “I have been very fortunate to have amazing times, especially at Chelsea as a player and a coach. But when you feel the feelings and desperation of what relegation brings to the table, it is different.”
“I thought I might cry [at full-time], I thought I might jump out of my body. Nobody can question the celebrations at the end. It is easy to say ‘but you haven’t won anything. You know what, come and work at this club for a few months and see the difficulties and what it means to people to stay in this league. It is a special night in Everton’s history.”
