The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is up and running. Fans have started getting their daily dose of cricket with the group stage of the biggest T20 League on. They are enjoying some breathtaking shots, some acrobatic fielding efforts, and deadly bowling spells already. Two games have successfully been completed while the third game of the season is still underway.

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings are up against each other at the DY Patil Stadium. After opting to bowl first, Punjab have enjoyed very little success with RCB batters smashing their bowlers all around the park. RCB's new captain Faf du Plessis is enjoying the new role too much. He has got into character really quickly.

And it seems that he has successfully filled in for his former teammate AB de Villiers who has been an integral part of RCB for years. One of Faf's shots on Sunday evening reminded fans of their beloved ABD. Plessis hit a six off Odean Smith's bowling by shuffling around the wicket, just like de Villiers used to do it.

Du Plessis shines first up

Now coming to Plessis' batting performance in his first game as RCB's captain, it was perfectly knit innings. The captain started slowly with the ball moving a bit. He knew if RCB had to post a big total, he needed to stay in the middle and he did fulfill his responsibility. As soon as Kohli started to look settled, Plessis decided to put his foot on the gas. The Proteas batter started nailing sixes and in no time, he raced to his half-century.

Plessis did not stop even after crossing the 50-run mark but got even more aggressive. He was looking to find boundaries in every over and also got success. He scored 88 off 57 balls before perishing to a fabulous catch from Shahrukh Khan.
