Despite being out of tennis action for quite some time, there seems to be no dip in the fan following of Roger Federer. The Swiss tennis icon continues to enjoy massive popularity both for his achievement on the tennis court and his conduct off it. The 20-time Grand Slam champion showed yet another reason why he remains an ambassador of sportsman spirit in a recent incident.

A fan accidentally got to meet his idol Federer at a restaurant. While Federer was having dinner with a few people, this particular fan spotted him and his joy knew no bounds. With a sense of excitement, he told Federer that he had a tattoo of him and he never expected to meet him in that restaurant.

He then even went up to Federer and showed him the tattoo. "There is no way around Hard Work, Embrace it," the fan has this quote of the former world number 1 inked on his arm.

It was Federer's reaction that made the fan's day. Not only did Federer get up to acknowledge the fan but even hugged him for his admiration towards him. The video of the same was shared by ATP Tour on their social media.

"The chances of showing @rogerfederer the tattoo you have of him are low…but never zero," the caption read.

As far as Federer's professional update is concerned, he has been out of action since the Wimbledon quarterfinal loss a year ago. Post that, Federer underwent his third knee injury in less than two years. However, the 40-year-old has hinted at his possible return soon.

Meanwhile, his friend off the court and old-rival on it, Rafael Nadal has taken the number of Grand Slam wins tally to 22. Maybe that could be an added motivation for Federer to come back stronger.
