After a mountain of crisis, FC Barcelona has emerged as one of the top teams in the world under their new manager Xavi Hernadez. The Blaugrana decimated their arch-rivals Real Madrid in another entertaining El Clasico played at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid. This was Barca’s 73rd win in the iconic game but they still trail the Los Blancos who have 76 wins.

The Arsenal loanee, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started the onslaught for Barcelona with a blistering header from Ousmane Dembele’s cross. Around the 38-minute mark, Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araújo scored another clinical header to double for the Catalans.

The momentum continued in the second half as Ferran Torres scored his fourth La Liga goal with a powerful finish as Barca was cruising at 3-0. Four minutes after Torres’ goal, Aubameyang doubled his tally with a simple chip shot over Madrid gloveman Thibaut Courtois.

“Maybe it can be said that we are back”

Former Barcelona player and their current manager Xavi was extremely elated with this victory. In the post-match press conference, he said, “Maybe it can be said that we are back. It is a day to enjoy and celebrate. In the recent past, we didn’t have many joys. We have struck a blow on the table. It can be said that we are coming back. We have competed against a whole Real Madrid, in their field. The game was spectacular, and we could have scored more goals.”

“We could have gone for a fifth. I’m excited about how they play and how they train. We have been much better than Real Madrid. It’s a day to enjoy. These are moments of celebration. The match was spectacular. I’m a coach and a Cule”, said Xavi.
