Royal Challengers Bangalore were up against SunRisers Hyderabad in a crucial contest in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Virat Kohli's side needed two points to keep their hopes alive of a top-two finish which could give them an extra opportunity to go through to the finals of IPL 2021. They were the favourites going into the contest against a side who are last on the points table. However, the Orange Army were up for a fight!

After Abhishek Sharma struck a couple of boundaries before getting dismissed, SRH had got the momentum going on with the experienced duo of Jason Roy and Kane Williamson. The pair played some glorious shots on a difficult batting wicket to stitch a crucial partnership for the second wicket. In search of the breakthrough, Kohli got back his strike bowler Harshal Patel back into the attack and the leading wicket-taker did not disappoint.

Harshal Patel provides the crucial breakthrough

Having conceded 8 runs in his first over, Patel came to bowl the 12th over of innings and instantly deceived Jason Roy with a slower one. Luckily for the SRH opener, the ball fell in no man's land and he heaved a huge sigh of relief.

But Patel got his reward a couple of deliveries later when he bowled another slower one which left Kane Williamson absolutely bamboozled as the ball crashed onto the middle stump to send the SRH skipper back to the pavilion.

With this wicket, Patel took his tally to 27 scalps for the season in his 13th game. He would want to add a few more in the death overs against SRH.
