There is little doubt that being a captain of the Indian team in all formats is not a cakewalk, and the responsibility comes with a few side effects as well. However, being the captain of the Indian team is one thing, but additional responsibilities of leading the IPL team increase the rate of hair getting grey. Rohit Sharma, who is having a great time leading the national side and clinching consecutive clean sweeps, was reminded of something similar on Monday evening.

After registering a thumping victory against Sri Lanka in 2nd Test at Chinnaswamy Stadium, the MI skipper caught up with the coaching staff of the Mumbai franchise, including head coach Mahela Jayawardene, strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman, bowling coach Shane Bond and fielding coach James Pamment. As Sharma was about to greet Mahela and others, Mumbai head coach made a quirky remark upon meeting the skipper. He said to the rest of the coaching staff, "He has got more grey hair after beginning captaincy." The skipper responded to Mahela's comment with a smile and greeted everyone.

The former Sri Lankan cricketer was referring to the stress that comes with leading the national side across all formats and also the franchise team. Rohit Sharma was recently appointed the white-ball captain and later was handed over the Test captaincy as well after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role following the defeat in the Test series in South Africa. Ever since Rohit donned the captaincy cap, team India has won 15 out of 16 matches in the recently concluded home season. Team India have got off to a terrific start under Rohit Sharma's reign, winning 15 out of 16 matches in the recently-concluded home season. The thrilling draw against New Zealand in Kanpur marked the only contest where India failed to win under Rohit's captaincy since he took up a full-time role.

Speaking of IPL, the Mumbai franchise had a disappointing campaign in the previous edition of the IPL. They finished fifth in the table and missed out on a playoff spot for the first time since 2018.
