On Thursday, the stage was set for the all-important final league game in Legends League Cricket where India Maharajas were up against World Giants. The points table was very interestingly poised ahead of this match as India's fate relied on the outcome of the result on day - A win would take them through to finals while a defeat would eliminate them from the tournament.

Hence, it was very important for Men in Blue, being led by Yusuf Pathan in absence of Mohammad Kaif, to get off to a good start. Well, winning the toss and opting to field first in Oman before sending Kevin Pietersen back to the pavilion early in the innings was undoubtedly a perfect start for them. However, what happened in the next 9 overs was nothing short of a nightmare for the India Maharajas.

Herschelle Gibbs walked out to join hands with wicketkeeper Phil Mustard and the destruction began. After Mustard smashed Munaf Patel for three sixes in the 4th over of the innings, the shackles were broken. From Nikhil Chopra to Rajat Bhatia to Amit Bhandari, the two batsmen wreaked havoc on all the India Maharajas' bowlers in what was a match-defining phase.

Before Irfan Pathan broke their partnership by dismissing Mustard (57 off 33), the damage had already been done. From 17/1 in 1.3 overs, the duo took World Giants to 115/2 in 10.3 overs, adding 98 runs in space of only 9 overs.
